A Prague man died and three others were injured last week in a two-vehicle head-on collision west of Prague in Lincoln County.
Oklahoma Highway Trooper Broden Carls identified the man who died as Tommy Rogers, 81. Carls said Rogers suffered injuries to his head, both legs, both arms and trunk internal.
The trooper reported the fatal collision occurred on Monday, Oct. 26, just before 8 p.m. on U.S. 62 and Airport Road, one mile west of Prague.
Rogers was transported by REACT Ambulance to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City.
The trooper said Rogers died of his injuries the following day, Oct. 27.
Carls reported Rogers was driving a 2010 Toyota Tacoma westbound on U.S. 62. He said a 2014 Honda CRV driven by Haley Price, 29, of Ada, was eastbound on the highway and went left of center striking the Toyota head-on.
He said the Honda spun 360 degrees coming to rest in the middle of the roadway. The Toyota ran off the road to the right coming to rest in the ditch.
Carls stated that all occupants in both vehicles were pinned for an unknown amount of time and were extracted from the vehicles by the Prague Fire Department using the Hurst tool.
Price was transported by REACT to OU Medical Center and admitted in fair condition with injuries to both legs, both arms, neck and trunk internal, the trooper said.
Two passengers in the Honda driven by Price, Chelsea Easley Wade, 28, and Veronica Brunson, 24, suffered injuries and were transported by REACT to OU Medical Center also. Wade reportedly suffered injuries to both legs, and trunk internal and was admitted in fair condition.
Brunson also was taken by REACT to OU Medical Center and admitted in fair condition and suffered neck, trunk internal and leg injuries, Carls reported.
The trooper said the cause of the collision is under investigation. Condition of both drivers at the time of the collision was apparently normal, Carls stated.
Seat belts were equipped and in use in both vehicles and airbags were equipped and deployed in both vehicles, he said.
The trooper reported it was drizzling and the roadway was wet and icy in spots at the time of the collision.
Carls, of Troop A, was assisted by both the Prague Fire and Police Departments and also REACT.
