The Dale Board of Education during its meeting this week renewed the principal contracts for two and accepted the resignation of another principal and an elementary teacher.
School Supt. Will Jones said the board renewed the contracts for Elementary School Principal Tamee Daniel and Middle School Principal Kim Powell for the next school year.
Board members also accepted the resignations of High School Principal J.D. Widner and Third Grade teacher Pam Motley, both effective at the end of this school year, Jones noted.
The board was presented information by a representative from North Point Claims on roof damage, Jones said, and it was only informational, there was no action taken.
The board voted to spend county educational tax money to purchase Chromebooks, Jones said.
Board members also approved the calendar for 2023-2024 and calculated the school year by 1,080 hours instead of 180 days.
Jones provided board members with revenue comparisons of January this year and January of 2022.
In January of 2023, warrants have totaled $3,039,295 and in January of 2022 the figure was $2,861,492, which is $177,803 more.
The building fund cash balance in January this year stood at $180,249. In January of 2022, it totaled $101,922 which is up $78,927.
The district’s General Fund cash balance in January 2023 was $997,302 and in January of 2022 it totaled $831,602. That is an increase of $165,700 over the same month in 2022.
State aid received in January of this year was $1,648,336. In January of 2022 it was $1,642,512. That amount is $5,824 more than in January of a year ago.
The County Education sales tax balance was $491,275 in January of 2023 and in January of 2022 it stood at $370,173, an increase of $121,102. Jones pointed out January’s county sales tax check was $28,763.
He advised the board 2022-2023 Esser III funds are $452,834.
In other action, the board approved two fund raisers for the Middle School, including a bake sale and having Surf Bar at the school two days a month, Jones said.
In public participation, Jones said Wesley Badley addressed the board about starting the Board of Education meetings with a word of prayer.
