One person reportedly has died, another was critically injured and hospitalized in a single vehicle collision last Friday at the south edge of Chandler in Lincoln County.
Chandler police investigated the fatal crash that occurred around 9:40 a.m. on SH 18 at the railroad overpass. A pickup truck apparently struck the bridge and the driver reportedly died, according to a source.
The passenger was reportedly airlifted to a hospital in Tulsa. On Monday, four days after the collision, the Chandler police said they would not release any information on the crash because it was still under investigation. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reportedly assisted in the investigation.
Lincoln County Emergency Management Director Charlotte Brown said an official with the Burlington Northern Railroad came to the scene since the bridge was struck. She said the official confirmed there was no damage, that it didn’t impact or impede rail traffic or traffic on the highway, although traffic on SH 18 was closed until early Friday afternoon.
