A Chandler man has been bound over to stand trial on amended charges in a shooting on Easter Sunday night that injured a teenage girl.
Jodie Jones, 44, was formally charged April 11 in Lincoln County District Court with assault and battery with a deadly weapon and felony discharging firearm into a dwelling.
Law enforcement authorities arrested Jones later that same night of the shooting.
Assistant District Attorney Kelly Trimble said Jones was bound over to stand trial on amended felony charges of discharging a firearm into a dwelling and attempted first degree burglary.
Jones made his first initial appearance before Judge Kirk and then a further initial appearance before Special Judge Emily Mueller.
Lincoln County Sheriff’s Sgt. Aaron Bennett said the girl was airlifted to Children’s Hospital in Oklahoma City the night of the shooting with what was believed to be nonlife threatening injuries and remained in the hospital late that night.
Bennett said that officers took him into custody and transported him to the Lincoln County Jail in Chandler.
The arrest was made without incident around midnight Sunday after officers obtained a search warrant for Jones.
Bennett said that it all unfolded about 6:46 p.m. Sunday when the 911 Communications Center received a call about an individual shooting into a house. The caller stated that a juvenile, 16, had been struck in the upper leg.
He said the Special Operations Team of the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office was already activated to assist the Oklahoma Highway Patrol with a manhunt following a hit and run on the Turner Turnpike just west of Chandler.
