EMILY KALKA The Carney FFA chapter has been named a three-star chapter and named a national finalist this year for the Premier Chapter Strengthening Agriculture Award Area, according to a press release from Carney FFA.
Less than 10 percent of chapters nationwide are given a ranking from the National FFA Organization, and only 10 chapters are selected as national finalists in each of the five award categories by the National FFA, according to the press release.
Carney FFA will compete to be named the national winner on Oct. 29 in Indianapolis at the 98th National FFA Convention. Additionally, they will receive honors from corporate sponsors Bayer, Cargill Protein, Case IH, John Deere, Syngenta and Rabobank.
“The program recognizes outstanding FFA chapters from throughout the country that actively implement the mission and strategies of the organization. These chapters improve chapter operations using the National Quality FFA Chapter Standards and a Program of Activities that emphasizes growing leaders, building communities and strengthening agriculture. Chapters are rewarded for providing educational experiences for the entire membership,” the press release said.
The National FFA Organization is a school-based national youth leadership development organization of more than 1,042,245 student members as part of 9,407 local FFA chapters in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
