Week of March 23-28 Carney
1-2 for the week. Wins over Coyle (7-3). Losses to Pioneer (9-1) and Yale (4-2). Record: 6-3.
Payten Edgar threw a five-inning one-hitter to boost the Bulldogs to the 7-3 win over Coyle on Monday. He struck out nine and allowed only two walks.
Garrett Webb was 2-for-3 with a double and three RBI while Heston Welch, Lane Ramsey and Edgar contributed doubles. The fleet Remington Martin had a hit, a walk and two stolen bases.
Ramsey threw a five-inning two-hitter against Yale on Tuesday, but Yale put across four unearned runs in the bottom of the fifth to get the win. Ramsey struck out and five and walked but two.
Ramsey and Martin had doubles.
Chandler
3-3 for the week. Wins over Meeker (5-0), Tecumseh (12-11) and Perry (8-0). Losses to Meeker (15-4), Perkins (11-3) and Beggs (12-7). Record: 6-8.
Freshman Ridley Bendele spun a three-hit shutout against Perry in the third-place game of the Mark Howard Memorial Tournament on Saturday.
He struck out three, allowed just three singles and walked only two.
Landon Earp had two hits and an RBI in support and Garrett Garner had three hits.
Against Tecumseh in the opening round of the tournament, Sawyer Sims doubled, singled and drove in three runs as the Lions built an early 8-0 lead and weathered a six-run seventh inning by the Savages.
Christian Goeller, Taylor and Boston Christy crossed the plate three times each and Rhett Haley and Earp had a pair of singles each.
Taylor had a three-run double for the Lions’ runs against Perkins Thursday night.
Bryson Taylor threw a four-hitter and drove in two runs to key the win over Meeker on Monday. Goeller had a pair of doubles and scored two runs and Rhett Haley doubled, singled, scored twice and drove in a run.
Garrett Garner doubled, singled and drove in two runs in the loss to Meeker on Tuesday. Maddox Metheny tripled, singled, walked and scored a pair of runs.
Dale
4-1 for the week. Wins over Lindsay (6-0), Woodlawn (2-1), Sylvan Hills (9-1) and Nashville (9-1). Loss to Riverside (3-2). Record: 6-2, ranked No. 1 in Class 2AI,
The Pirates trekked to Little Rock, Ark., last week for four games at the Robinson Invitational.
Briar Turman threw five innings of three-hit ball to pick up the win on Thursday against Woodlawn. He struck out seven and was relieved in the sixth by Elvis Edwards, who struck out three and didn’t allow a hit in two innings.
Carver Crowson hit a sacrifice fly in the sixth inning to score Cruz Garrett with what proved to be the winning run.
Dale got strong pitching from A.J. Carpenter and Edwards later in the day, but Riverside scored two unearned runs to get the win, 3-2.
Carpenter went six innings, striking out six and allowing five hits. Edwards pitched a perfect seventh inning and didn’t allow a ball hit out of the infield.
Dale had 11 hits - all singles. Chase Harris had three and Garrett and Edwards had two each.
Garrett turned in another strong performance on the mound Friday morning against Sylvan Hills, going six innings, striking out seven and allowing only three hits.
Braylon White homered, Garrett tripled and Eli Dougherty doubled. White and Edwards had two hits each.
Harris and Edwards combined for a three-hit shutout over Lindsay on Monday. Harris got the win, going four innings and allowing three hits while whiffing seven Leopards. Edwards threw the final three, striking out four and not allowing a hit.
Garrett had a double and a single and drove in two runs, Crowson had a double, a single and an RBI and White had a pair of singles. Carpenter and Wyatt Seeley each had a double.
Davenport
3-1 for the week. Wins over Depew (10-2), Prague (9-0), Cashion (5-4) Loss to Keifer (6-1). Record: 9-7, ranked No. 12 in Class A-II.
Chase Mitchell spun a two-hit shutout against Prague in the opening round of the Davenport tournament on Thursday. He struck out two and walked only one.
His teammates supported him with nine hits, including a two-run, walk-off home run by Reece Murfin to finish the run-rule in the bottom of the sixth.
Catcher Brody Robinson had a pair of triples and scored three times, Carter Marshall had a double and scored twice.
Against Cashion in the semifinals, Marshall singled home Devin Murfin with the winning run in the bottom of the seventh.
Reece Murfin had his second homer in as many games, and Marshall went yard, as well.
Tyler Gilkison threw six solid innings for the Bulldogs, scatting three hits and giving up two earned runs while striking out six. Marshall finished up with an inning of relief.
Trevor Edwards went 2-for-3, scored two runs and drove in two more to help the Bulldogs past Depew on Tuesday. Devin Murfin had a double and three RBI, Robinson had two hits and two walks, Mitchell knocked in two runs, Marshall doubled and Laken Durbin had two hits and scored twice.
McLoud
1-4 for the week. Losses to Tuttle (10-0 and 18-0), Perry (8-4) and Rooff (10-2) Win over Bethel (8-0). Record: 3-12.
The Redskins had gone 13 innings without scoring, but broke loose for seven runs in the first inning against Bethel at the Mark Howard Memorial Tournament in Chandler. They had three hits and worked four Bethel pitchers for seven walks.
Justus Rooker was money on the mound, striking out eight in five innings and giving up just two hits.
Rooker had two hits in the game against Perry and Eli Raines had a double and an RBI.
Meeker
2-3 for the week. Wins over Chandler (15-4) and Depew (14-1). Losses to Chandler (5-0), Kiefer (9-1) and Cashion (7-6). Record: 11-5, Jason Key had a good season against Chandler on Tuesday. He had two singles, a double, a triple, four RBI and scored five times. That led an 18-hit assault on the Lions and evened the season series at a game each.
Bryce Bussell had two hits and scored three runs, Maverick Herring had a triple and a single and drove in three runs. Castin Schafer had two hits and three RBI and Caleb Heath had three hits and two RBI. Brodey Manning had a double and an RBI.
Bussell, Manning, Schafer and Key had hits against Chandler on Monday.
Key continued swinging a powerful stick on Thursday against Depew in the first round of the Davenport tournament. He stroked a pair of hits and drove in four runs. Herring doubled and drove in three runs and Daythan Lawson had a double and scored a run.
Castin Schafer picked up the pitching win with three innings of one-hit ball and helped himself with two RBI.
North Rock Creek
2-3 for the week. Wins over Ada (5-2) and Noble (64). Losses to Ada (11-4), Bixby (14-3) and Moore (6-5). Record: 8-7.
Landon Rosser and Mavrick Wingo launched home runs and Tyler Bergsten styled a five-hitter to lead the Cougars past Ada on Tuesday.
Rosser went yard in the bottom of the third with Jaxson Loftis and Owin Payne aboard and Wingo homered to right field in the sixth. Jace Plumb had a pair of hits and Lane Scallorn doubled.
On the mound, Bergsten threw seven innings, allowing five hits and striking out six. He was consistently around the plate, throwing strikes on 60 of the 97 pitches he threw.
On Monday, Kona Paningsoro and Scallorn had doubles in the loss at Ada.
Wingo had a two-run single against Bixby and Hunter Bertram had a double. Rosser and Alexander Monge combined for a five-hitter against Noble.
Rosser went the first three, allowing two hits and two earned runs and Monge threw the final four, striking out eight and allowing three hits, but not giving up any earned runs.
Prague 2-3 for the week. Wins over Woodland (16-6) and Depew (4-0). Losses to Oklahoma Christian (11-0 and 16-1) and Davenport (9-0). Record: 8-4.
Clay LaValley had two hits and an RBI in the Tuesday game against Oklahoma Christian.
Kolten Yeager had three RBI against Woodland on Friday and LaValley had a double and single and scored three times. Braxton Carpenter had a double and two RBI and scored three times. Eli Grange had a double.
Eli Lakins and Henry Hankins combined for a two-hit shutout and struck out 11 against Depew.
Lakins, the winning pitcher, hurled the first five, allowing two hits and breezing six. Hankins was in for the sixth and seventh. He struck out five of the six batters he paced and 18 of his pitches were for strikes.
Stroud
3-0 for the week. Wins over Okemah (13-1), Holdenville (17-1) and Cushing (11-10). Record: 8-5.
The Tigers rallied for seven runs in the bottom of the seventh against Cushing and got the winning run when Kacin Martinez walked with the bases loaded.
Big hits in the inning were a double by Cal Shields and a three-run double by Gideon Smalley to tie it at 10-10.
Against Holdenville, the Tigers put 13 runs up in the first inning, eliminating any drama that might have existed.
They had 10 hits, with six going for extra bases. Those included six doubles, with Gage Bailey hitting two and Smalley, Jessen Leathers, Leelyn Neuman and Stryker Bray having one each The Tigers had only four hits, but worked Okemah pitching for 11 walks on Monday. Cal Shields had a single, walked twice and scored three times to pace the scoring. Landry Davis, Smalley and Bray scored twice each and Bray got on base twice the hard way - getting hit by pitches.
Leathers and Zane Charkowski combined for a three-inning no-hitter. Leathers went the first 1 and 2/3, walking one and striking out one. Charkowski finished up, giving an unearned run, striking out two and walking two.
Wellston
1-1 for the week. Win over Olive (15-4). Loss to Destiny Christian (12-2). Record 3-2.
Rush McGovran was 2-for-3 and scored a run in the loss to Destiny Christian.
The WTs took advantage of 11 walks to beat Olive, 15-4, on Monday. McGovran, Justin Kelley, Chase Baldwin and Grady Hull all walked twice and scored twice. A. Bennett had three RBI.
Rhett O’Day and Hull thew three two innings each, with O’Day getting the win. He allowed one hit and struck out four, while hull allowed just two hits and struck out four.
