A Chandler resident faces a felony and three misdemeanors after he was arrested by Chandler police.
John Wesley Clark, 48, was formally charged March 19 in Lincoln County District Court with distribution of controlled dangerous substance including possession with intent to distribute, a felony.
He also was also charged with three misdemeanors including carrying weapons, public intoxication and disturbing the peace and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
Clark appeared before Associate District Judge Sheila Kirk on March 16 and she set a $5,000 bond. He reappeared as ordered on March 22 and she scheduled a prepreliminary hearing for 1:30 p.m. on April 1.
Court records show the pre-preliminary hearing was continued until 1:30 p.m. on May 6.
The felony count against Clark accuses him of possessing marijuana with the intent to distribute on March 12 of this year in Lincoln County.
Count 2 charges him with carrying weapons by carrying machetes and swinging them on the same date.
In Count 3, he is accused of being intoxicated at 501 E. 1st Street in Chandler in Lincoln County and in Count 4 Clark is charged with possessing a pipe used to consume controlled drugs on the same date.
A probable cause affidavit signed by Chandler Police Officer Shane Mustard states he was dispatched to the Chandler On Cue gas station in Chandler shortly after 9 p.m. on March 12 about a man, identified as Clark, swinging a sword.
Mustard said he was met by Chandler Reserve Officer J. Odle who stated the man had two swords (machetes) and was swinging them through the air.
According to the affidavit, the man had gotten into truck as Mustard was arriving.
Mustard said he made contact with Clark who had a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath. Mustard reported he spotted two swords next to Clark and as he began to talk with Clark that he (Clark) was very unsteady on his feet.
At 9:08 p.m. Mustard placed Clark in custody, the affidavit states. As he started to inventory the bag, Mustard located a large clear plastic baggie with a small baggie inside it containing a green leafy substance. He also found a pill bottle containing 22 beige color pills with a R14 imprint on them, a capped syringe and around 100-200 clear baggies.
Mustard transported Clark to the Lincoln County Jail in Chandler and after arriving at the jail, discovered a silver pipe in Clark’s pocket. The officer added that to evidence, he said.
The officer also found a small digital scale containing a white powdery substance, he stated.
