Chandler school board approves estimate

Chandler Board of Education members this week approved the district’s Estimate of Needs and financial statements for Fiscal Year 2024/2025 and hired several new personnel.

School Supt. Scott Baade reported the Estimate of Needs and financial statements were prepared by Ralph Osborn, CPA.

He said the General Fund totals $11,076,032,82, with the Building Fund $889,481.71. The Child Nutrition Fund totals $629,524.63.

The sinking fund totals $930,062.50.

New personnel hired include Special Education Teacher Marilyn Sokolowski, and two new cafeteria workers, Donna Baumann and Savannah Ladd.

Board members approved the encumbrance for substitute teachers for certified contracts and support employees who have contracts starting in September of 2024.

An agreement was approved with the Sac and Fox Nation Black Hawk Health Center Behaviorial Department to provide behavioral health services to students and staff.

Hannah Smith was approved as an adjunct teacher for one hour of 7th-12th grade Physical Education for the 2024/2025 school year.

Board members also approved Ashley Weaver as an adjunct teacher for one hour of 7th-12th grade grade Physical Education for the 2024/2025 school year.

Katanna Davis was approved as an adjunct teacher for two hours of Junior High Health for the 2024/2025 school year.

A gifted and talented local advisory committee for the 2024 school year was approved. Members include Jennifer Savage, Pam Anderson, Keilli Robbins and Ann Taylor.

Board members approved the request for the FFA programs for an out of state trip to Indianapolis, Ind., to the National Convention. The trip is scheduled for Oct. 20-26, 2024.

Several new/revised policies were approved.

“Applications for Sanctioning” were approved for the following booster groups including, Chandler Ag, Chandler Adult Supporting Theatre (C.A.S.T), Softball, Chandler Lions Track and Cross-Country, CHS Cheer, Chandler Basketball, Baseball, Quarterback Club and Wrestling Club.

The board members voted to rescind a policy on “Midyear Promotion Fourth Grade,” and approved a list of miscellaneous chemistry classroom items as surplus.
