Chandler High School vocal music honored

On Monday, April 11th, the Chandler School Board recognized the Vocal Music Department and many of its students for multiple groups and individual accomplishments listed below.

The School Board gave the students a standing ovation once all of their accomplishments had been listed. Thank you, Chandler for being so supportive of the Chandler Fine Arts Department. The Chandler Choir has had a prestigious program for many years and the support of the community plays a large role in this.

They will have their Spring Concert on Tuesday, May 3rd at the Chandler Performing Arts Center where they will be performing 5 commissioned pieces written by local and national composers. The Chandler JH and HS choirs will be the first groups to perform these beautiful pieces of music.

Shayla Peery has received a full-ride scholarship to the College of the Ozarks. This prestigious school has a 10 prcent acceptance rate. Shayla is excited to attend and believes she will learn more about her craft and become an even better person and vocal musician. She will begin attending on May 27. The Vocal Department staff would like to wish her good luck on her musical journey.

The following students submitted applications and were selected for the State Superintendent’s Award for Fine Arts Excellence. There was a reception and ceremony on Tuesday, April 19th at the Guthrie Masonic Temple. There were 32 students from the entire state of Oklahoma that qualified for this award this year. and 2 of them were from Chandler. Shayla Peery 2021, Grace Myers 2022, Trever Spruill 2022.

The following students auditioned and were selected for the Summer Arts Institute at Quartz Mountain. This is a fullyfunded 2-week camp made up of 60 students throughout the state. Grace Myers, Trever Spruill, Ian Radcliffe

The following students auditioned and were selected for the 2021-2022 High School OkMEA All-State Choir: Colton Burbach, Trever Spruill and Grace Myers.

The following students auditioned and were selected for the 2021-2022 Junior High OkCDA All-State Choir: Weston Miller, Eli Smithey, Ian Radcliffe, Elizabeth Myers, Madelyn Ledford

The following students auditioned and were selected for the Eastern Oklahoma Choral Directors regional honor choir. This year for the first time, every student who auditioned was selected for the choir. (17 students)

The following High School Students received a Superior rating on their solo and qualified to compete at the State Solo and Ensemble level held on April 21st at Shawnee.
