Chandler, Stroud FCCLA attend state conference

The FCCLA chapters from Chandler and Stroud participated in the Take AIM conference on Oct. 7 at Meridian Technology Center in Guthrie. The conference focuses on new members in grades 7 through 10 and is a oneday event full of leadership development, team building and FCCLA spirit, according to a press release. “Take AIM is an essential stepping stone for our newest FCCLA members,” said Brittani Phillips, Oklahoma FCCLA State Adviser. “This conference allows them to discover the vast opportunities FCCLA offers, develop valuable leadership skills, and connect with fellow members in a fun and interactive environment.” The conference focused on four areas: attend, engage, lead and compete. It included activities such as interactive workshops, team-building exercises and leadership development sessions. It serves as a launching pad for new FCCLA members and helps them to become active participants and future leaders, the press release said. Oklahoma FCCLA has about 24,000 members in 400 local chapters in middle and high school, as well as technology campuses. The program’s mission is to promote personal growth and leadership development through family and consumer sciences education.
