Commissioners approve applications

The Lincoln County Commissioners approved a Slip-On Unit grant application for the Fallis Fire Department at a special meeting on March 10 at the courthouse.

As Fallis is not a municipality, the application needs to go through the county government to be eligible. The department intends to use the grant for three units.

The commissioners then rejected all bids for a used grader. Instead, District #3 Commissioner Marlon Miller plans to purchase one of three graders that will be leased by the county starting from July as that option is cheaper than the bids that the county received last month.

They also approved a donation of a truck from Steve Orr to the Sheriff’s Office and a contract between the treasurer and Smith Brothers Abstract.

The County Commissioners discussed renting trash dumpsters for spring clean-up. The County didn’t receive a trash grant this year, so plans to work with the City of Meeker and other entities to offer funds to all three districts to help with dumpsters and clean-ups.

They took no action, though plan to finalize a resolution at the next meeting.

They also held a long discussion with HUB International regarding health insurance for county employees. No action was taken on this either. The county is evaluating moving off its current arrangement to a direct carrier setup.

The commissioners later discussed the current status of County Bridge and Road Improvement (CBRI) projects with CED4. There several The Board of County Commissioners is planning to hold another special meeting on Feb. 16 to discuss signing a letter of support for Agra Public Schools to help with a grant application and finalize funds for the dumpsters.
