CVEC scholarships

Six students from Lincoln County are the recipients of the inaugural Operation Round Up Scholarship program, according to a press release from Canadian Valley Electric Cooperative (CVEC).

Each student received a $1,000 scholarship to help with their continuing education.

The students are Caleb T. Holbrook from Meeker, Joshua P. Pritchett from Prague, Savana Sims from Prague, Ella Grace Simek from Prague, Benton Quary from Prague and Jayden D. McAnally from Prague.

The program awarded $16,000 total to 16 high school students from the CVEC service territory, the press release said.

The Operation Round Up Scholarship was started to help students wishing to seek a college, university or technical school education who live in the CVEC coverage area. It’s funded by participating CVEC members who volunteered to have their monthly electric bills rounded up to the nearest dollar, the press release said.

Operation Round Up has helped fund community projects, health care, scholarships and other efforts.
