Canadian Valley Electric Cooperative (CVEC), along with Western Farmers Electric Cooperative (WFEC), helped to provide more than $2.4 million to schools in the state, including several schools in Lincoln County and Pottawatomie County, according to a press release from CVEC.

In Pottawatomie County, Dale received $25,119.34 from CVEC and $32,508.83 from WFEC, McLoud received $34,236.01 from CVEC, and North Rock Creek received $45,381.80 from CVEC and $32,432.05 from WFEC.

“At CVEC, we believe education is one of the most important investments we can make,” said Gary Highley, CEO of CVEC. “Our $2.4 million contribution in 2024 reflects how much we value our youth and the educators shaping their futures.”

WFEC is CVEC’s generation and transmission provider. Electric cooperatives in the state pay a 2 percent gross receipts tax on revenue and 95 percent of that tax goes straight to schools, based on how many miles of co-op power line run through the specific district, according to the press release.
