The Chandler Board of Education this week accepted the resignation of a board member, hired a paraprofessional and also employed two teacher aides.
School Supt. Scott Baade said Board Member Tony Jarvis, who held seat No. 1, has resigned from the board. He noted the board will appoint a replacement to fill the position until December of 2023 when the filing period is held.
Whoever is appointed could also file for Jarvis’ unexpired term. That will mean Chandler has two board seats up in 2024, he said.
Robin Shipman was hired as a paraprofessional, Baade stated.
Kass Jones and Deana Torres were employed as teacher aides, he said.
Baade said the board tabled until next month modifying the terms of his contract.
In other business the board: Approved the 2021/2022 audit report conducted by Ralph Osborn’s CPA firm and presented by Sara Jackson.
Approved the calendar for the 2023-2024 school year.
Agreed to a contract with “Fire Safety Inspections” for the annual inspection of all fire systems and the annual fire system monitoring.
Approved paying qualified National Board Certified staff members a bonus stipend of $5,000 less the required state and federal withholdings for Dana Key and Randee Gray.
Agreed to a contract with “ADPC” for basic accounting software services for the 2023/2024 fiscal year.
Approved an agreement with Employee Evaluation Systems, Inc., for the Oklahoma Teacher Leader Effectiveness (OKTLE) teacher evaluation program for the 2023/2024 school year.
Agreed to a service contract with Oklahoma Therapy Consultants for Occupational Therapy services for the remainder of the 2022/2023 school year.
Approved the 2023 Senior Class to attend an out-of-state trip to Branson, Mo., on May 11. 2023.
Approved Alexander Reed as an adjunct teacher for one hour of 7-12 Health, Hannah Smith for one of 7-12 Health and Jack Gray for fours of Physical Education and two hours of Competitive Athletics for the 2022/2023 school year.
Approved high school library books as surplus.
