A Mannford man has died as the result of injuries suffered in a one-vehicle traffic collision north of Davenport in Lincoln County over the weekend.
Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Robinson identified the victim as Johnny C. Smith, 65.
Smith was transported from the scene by Medi Flight to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City, the trooper said.
He was pronounced deceased by medical professionals at 8:30 p.m. due to injuries sustained in the collision, the trooper reported.
Robinson stated the collision occurred just after 6:30 p.m. on S. 3500 Road and E. 890 Road, approximately one mile north of Davenport.
The trooper reported the driver for an unknown reason left the roadway to the right, overcorrected, re-entered the roadway hitting a ditch and barbed wire fence causing the vehicle to go airborne. The vehicle rotated, hit a tree and came to rest on the driver’s side door, trooper noted.
Robinson said Smith was driving a 2010 Ford Escape.
He said the condition of the driver at the time of the crash is under investigation as is cause of the collision.
Seat belts were equipped and in use and the vehicle was equipped with airbags and they deployed, the trooper stated.
Robinson of Troop A was assisted by the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office and Miller EMS.
