A Chandler woman faces a felony child endangerment charge for allegedly driving while under the influence of alcohol following her arrest by a Sac and Fox Nation police officer.
Formal charges were filed on Feb. 24 in Lincoln County District Court against Taylor Farmer, 25.
In addition to the child endangerment count by DWI, she was charged with transporting an opened container of intoxicating beverage, a misdemeanor.
Special Judge Emily Mueller set a $5,000 bond for Farmer and scheduled an initial appearance for 1:30 p.m. today (March 4).
Farmer is accused of driving while under the influence of alcohol while a minor, born May 15, 2020, was under her care in the vehicle in Chandler on Jan. 31, 2021.
That crime is punishable by imprisonment for up to four years and/or a fine of $5,000.
The transporting an open container of alcoholic beverage could bring up to six months in county jail and/or a fine up to $500, court records show.
According to a probable cause affidavit filed by Sac and Fox Nation Police Officer Shawn Stewart, Farmer was arrested after 1 a.m. on Jan. 31 after her vehicle was stopped by Stewart at 3410 Road near 900 Road.
There was a passenger in her car in addition to the child being in a child seat in the back seat of the vehicle, the affidavit states.
Lincoln County deputies Jimmy Brown, Kevin Roe and Christopher Hyde assisted Stewart. Deputy Hyde contacted the child’s father, who came and picked her up.
Stewart first transported Farmer to the Stroud Regional Medical Center for a blood draw for the state’s test, but once at the hospital she refused the blood draw.
