Meeker FFA Chapter Officers recently attended the Chapter Officer Leadership Training (COLT) Conference, held at the Embassy Suites in Norman, Oklahoma. This year’s conference carried the theme “Take Aim”, encouraging FFA leaders to focus on their goals in leadership. Meeker Vice President, Baylee Weeks, was selected to serve as President for the Opening Closing Ceremonies.
The event was organized and led by the Oklahoma FFA State Officer team, who provided interactive sessions to strengthen chapter leadership across the state. The conference featured keynote speaker Kelly Barnes, a Webbers Falls FFA alumnus now residing in Edmond, Oklahoma. Barnes inspired attendees by sharing the importance of recognizing their leadership roles and using their abilities to positively impact their schools and communities.
In addition to the keynote speaker, state officers facilitated workshops that challenged chapter leaders to think critically, respond quickly to challenges, and practice problem-solving skills that translate directly into real-world leadership situations.
Following the conference, Meeker FFA had the opportunity to host Coy Davidson, Oklahoma FFA State Secretary, for lunch. This provided chapter officers the chance to connect more personally with state leadership.
When asked about what the State Officers hoped to accomplish at the COLT Conference this year, Hudson Andrews, Oklahoma FFA Central Area Vice President stated, “It’s hard to express the blessing it was to be able to facilitate the Central Area COLT Conference. From the energy that was brought to getting to see the excitement on the members’ faces made it that much more special.”
Hudson recently attended the Meeker FFA Chapter picnic. He went on to say “This year we focused on setting eyes “On Target” and then “Taking AIM”. More specifically we worked on situations that could possibly happen in a banquet and how to prepare ahead of time Representing were officers Devyn Frazier, Baylee Weeks, Beau Newport, Kaydence Staude, Emily Benn, and Stevie Buoy. Each officer left the conference with renewed energy and ideas to “take aim” at the upcoming school year and lead Meeker FFA to success.
