Meeker Town Board members this week discussed whether to allow vendors to use City Hall one Sunday each month from 2 to 6 p.m. for the Meeker Farm and Craft Market at the Meeker Community Garden.
Following discussion, they voted to table it until next month to obtain more input.
The board members also approved an interlocal agreement between the Town of Meeker and Circuit Engineering District 4 to allow Circuit Engineering to perform any government services, activity or undertaking which the public agency is authorized to perform and the Town agrees to abide by the by-laws and policies of CED-4.
They amended an ordinance and approved the emergency clause that removes the BOCA building code and replaces it with current ICC regulations.
Board members voted to set the date and time for Trick or Treat. They set it for 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 31 which is Halloween night.
They agreed to hire Russell and Williams CPA’s to perform the annual audit for the Town of Meeker with a fee of $4,550 which is half of $9,100 to be split between the General Fund and the Public Works Authority.
Board members approved closing City Hall for holidays as follows: Columbus Day on Monday, Oct. 9, with employees using eight hours of their accrued time off.
Wednesday, Nov. 22, the day before Thanksgiving, with the employees using eight hours of accrued time off.
Tuesday, Dec. 26, the day after Christmas, with the employees using eight hours of accrued time off.
They voted 4-1 to amend the resolution to adopt and implement a worksite wellness policy dated Aug. 7. 2019, declaring that the policy applies to every employee, visitor and any other person present on municipal property.
Voting in favor were Mayor Donna Weber, Vice Mayor Mike Orman and Trustees Mike Melton and Aaron Head. Trustee Lanny Thompson voted against it.
In other business, Board members: Agreed to apply for the Justice Assistance Grant with an application for funding for the purpose of purchasing body armor for the Meeker Police Department.
Meeting as the PWA, Trustees discussed the Oklahoma Water Resources Board loan application.
They voted to pay the PWA’s half of hiring Russell and Williams CPA’s for the audit which is $4,550 and an additional fee of $3,000 if an audit if required under the Uniform Guidance.
