Meeker Town Board of Trustees have approved proposed General Fund and Public Works Authority budgets for 2025-2026 with revisions and approved several ordinances.
The Trustees approved a proposed General Fund budget totaling $886,010 for 2025-2026. That compares with the current Fiscal Year’s budget for 2024-2025 of $997,065.
Trustees pointed to a significant decline in sales tax funds for the town as primary reason and they made several revisions to the proposed budget that they anticipate approving during their June board meeting.
On the Public Works Authority side, they voted to approved a proposed budget for 2025-2026 totaling $1,080,250. T hat is the exact same amount of the current PWA Fiscal Year budget for 2024-2025. They will take also take up the PWA budget during their June meeting for final approval.
Trustees approved several ordinances and the emergency clauses of each of those ordinances.
One will separate the Court Clerk title from the Town Clerk title.
A second one repeals an ordinance regarding Ombudsman activities amending dpeartment heads and the Town Administrator for the Town of Meeker.
Another one repeals an ordinance in its entirety regarding Trustees’ designated duties for the Town of Meeker.
Trustees voted to take no action to approve allowing citizens to set off fireworks in the town for the Fourth of July.
In other business, the Town’s legal counsel James Hodgens provided an update for Trustees on a couple of dilapidated structures one on Koonce, the other on Culver that the Town is involved in taking action against.
Trustees tabled an item regarding Police Department evidence storage.
