Kaydence Staude, a sophomore at Meeker High School, placed second in the Intermediate Agribusiness division at the American Farmers & Ranchers (AFR) State Speech Contest in Stillwater on Dec. 7.
“I am extremely proud of Kaydence for her hard work and determination in preparing her speech this fall. She has several opportunities to continue to be competitive in prepared public speaking, and I am excited to see what her future holds,” said FFA Advisor Logan Johns.
Two other students from Meeker competed at the state competitions as well. They were Gracin Jones, who placed fourth in Intermediate AFU/OFU, and Beau Newport.
This was the 79th year for the state contest, and this year’s categories were AFR/OFU, Agricultural Policy, Agribusiness, Natural Resources, Extemporaneous and Agri-Science.
