Wellston woman found dead in park

Abody found in Lake Thurderbird Park east of Norman last week has been identified as that of a Wellston woman, the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation has said.

The OSBI identified the woman as Charissia Dawn Bell, 29. The OSBI reportedly is investigating it as a suspicious death.

Her body was reportedly discovered around 6 p.m. on Feb. 13 just off a trail by cyclists, the OSBI has stated.

Her body was found off Breakwater Drive near the east side of a parking lot. Newly constructed bike trails and a parking lot are surrounded by a wooded area, the OSBI said.

Oklahoma State Park Rangers requested the assistance of the OSBI.

Agents used Mobile ID technology to scan the woman’s fingerprints and identify her. Her identity was confirmed by the State Medical Examiner’s Office.

The OSBI has stated the Medical Examiner will determine the cause and manner of her death.
