A Meeker man who was taken into custody during an incident about 1½ years has been charged with two felonies and a misdemeanor.
Charles Lee Green, 67, was formally charged Feb. 21 this year in Lincoln County District Court with aggravated eluding, driving a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and resisting an officer.
Court records show a $10,000 bench warrant was issued for Green’s arrest the same day he was charged.
Records also show that a $10,000 appearance bond was put up and he is scheduled to make his initial appearance at 1:30 p.m. on March 9.
Assistant District Attorney Rachel Thompson, who filed the case, said this week “it’s one of about 200 cases we are reviewing.”
In Count 1, aggravated eluding, Green is accused on Sep. 4, 2021 of increasing his speed in an attempt to elude Meeker Police Officer Raymond Mackin while driving at 1998 Chevrolet in the town of Meeker and Green had received a visual and audible signal and a red light and siren from Mackin directing him to stop his vehicle.
Count 2 states Green was driving and operating his vehicle on a public highway in Meeker while under the influence of intoxicating alcohol.
The resisting count against Green accuses him of resisting Mackin by not allowing him to complete his duties of arresting him.
Supplemental information filed in the case by the District Attorney shows that Green was convicted on Sep. 8, 2006 in Pottawatomie County District Court of driving while under the influence of alcohol.
The incident on Sep. 4, 2021 led to Mackin being placed on administrative leave and a Review Board being set to determine if the officer used excessive force.
The Review Board determined the officer did not use excessive force as he was attempting to take Green into custody during an incident on that Saturday night of Labor Day weekend.
Meeker Police Chief Trent Norton said this week that former District Attorney Allan Grubb had said he did not plan to file charges against Green. Norton further stated that he didn’t know that charges had been filed against Green until informed by a reporter.
