Wobbly woes on the highway

My car gave a heart dropping jolt as we hit the tightest part of the highway’s curve.

The sun was calmly going down and yet the empty pavement mercilessly tossed us into the air by means of one of its many hidden potholes. The type that seems to jump out and grab your tire when you least expect it, dragging you down into its jagged void just to launch you up into space again then promptly retreating to its cover under the dwindling light.

Hard to believe that something that looked to be only the size of a small bowl left the tremmering effect of slamming into the grand canyon.

Though I cannot blame this on poor road conditions due to the fact that this phenomenon had been consistently occurring with my car over the last few months, anytime I hit a rough patch of pavement.

As my car shuttered from the aftershock I struggled, with little success, to keep it from doing a bouncing fishtail shimmy into the next lane.

It was mid evening and the only other vehicle in sight was a pickup truck which had been pacing itself in front of me in my upper lefthand corner, my car quickly on its way to slam into its back end.

Had it not been for our slight difference in speed a collision would have been almost certain.

Instead, we now sat uncomfortably squeezed far too close to their back bumper.

We were on our way to a calm evening of movies and ice cream but this little joy ride left my passengers rattled and me apologizing profusely for the remainder of the drive.

While I had known of this issue for a while, the shocked, open mouth gaze that my two friends mirrored reminded me that I forgot to mention to them the hazards that may occur when riding in my car.

Though they recovered from their surprise rollercoaster ride within a few minutes there was no brushing my car’s obvious problems under the rug.

Soon after I was offered suggestions of taking my car in to identify the problem. Though that has not since been done I have developed a keen eye for uneven spots in the road and become increasingly skilled at avoiding them.
