This year’s Pottawatomie County Junior Livestock Trophy Auction and Pig Roast held last week set another new record.
Suzanne Gilbert, who is chairperson of the Pottawatomie County Junior Livestock Show, advised me that the total amount raised during last week’s event was $50,045.
She said, “We fed around 500, which is back to our regular crowd.”
Last year’s record was just short of $50,000.
And the year prior to that was $45,525 and the silent auction helped set the new record as well, she said.
Because of COVID, the PCJLS committee again became creative and those who participated in the live auction and the Pig Roast last year were contacted about doing the same.
Suzanne indicated that went very well once again this year.
There was no actual live auction held the night of the event.
There was a meal you could eat there or come to the Fire Lake arena where it was held and take it home, along with entertainment from the “Some Assembly Required” band and the silent auction.
Also, Gina Rounsaville and Jeremy Frye are this year’s honorees.
The funds raised in the Pig Roast and Trophy Auction are used to purchase trophies and jackets, promote the livestock show and strengthen the Premium Auction.
