Update from Meeker Town Hall

1. Update on Grants

A. T-Set’s, David Smith & Sheri Ripley notified City Hall that the Town has received the Top level of Gold status for a dividend of $14,000 to be spent on the parks. Special Thanks goes to all the ladies in the front offices for all the time & effort in securing the information for these grants.

B. Engineering is still going on for our $150K grant from USDA for the winter storm damage. This will go to the water lines that were damaged during the deep freeze we all encountered.

C. Several other grants are being compiled at this time.

D. The Town did receive the $50K check from COEDD to pay for the payment to Bailey’s Paving for the asphalt overlayment on N. Koonce & S. Koonce.

2. Update on Glenn Crest Park

A. The Turf Sod of Meeker laid the turf around the basketball court & up front at the entrance of the park. This really put the finishing touches on the beautiful park.

B. 4 T Sanitation has come on board as a Glenn Crest Park sponsor & has placed a Porta John on location. They will clean & maintain it on their weekly schedule. Once again, another local business stepping up to support their Hometown events & activities.

C. The Town Administrator treated the children ice cream bars from the Ice Cream truck now coming to Meeker, at the park. What a joy it was to see all those children’s smiling faces as they ate their free ice cream.

D. The park is now open with a Grand Opening schedule for Friday, April 16th at 2 PM.

E. Please everyone obey the Rules & Regulations that are posted on the signs at the park. Also please support all the businesses that are on the sign as you leave the park.

3. Update on Chamber of Commerce

A. Grand Opening of Glenn Crest Park will be Friday, April 16th @ 2 PM. Join the Chamber, Sponsors for the ribbon cutting. There will be a short ceremony conducted at this event with a dedication prayer by First Baptist Church Pastor Brother Joe Jones. Also, there will be an official flag raising event conducted by our new to-be Town Trustee, Billy Walker. Mr. Walker is also one of our Veterans that we are so proud of.

B. Debbie Leabo announced the Friendliest Employee for the month of March.

C. The Annual Golf Tournament is scheduled for May 21, 2021. Look forward to info. on Facebook to share.

D. City Wide Garage Sale is scheduled for Saturday, May 8, 2021. Check with Laverne Babinchak at BancFirst for details.

E. Blood drive will be at the First Baptist Church on April 19th.

F. City Wide Clean up will be on May 29th & May 30th. This event will be like last year with the roll-off dumpsters at the Meeker High School Gym. Must bring ID & City Utility bill to be able to dump.

4. Update on Demolitions

A. The Town is glad to announce that the tenth dilapidated structure hit the ground & is being hauled off to the dump. New houses are already in the plans to be built in several of these locations.

B. Tree limbs may still be hauled to the Sewer Plant & we will burn them.

C. As soon as the Town can borrow a chipper, we will make the rounds through Town & chip your limbs. I have called & the chipper is still not available. Please be patient.
