We kept the grandson Liam Easter weekend. We went and picked him up Friday afternoon at our daughter and son-in-law’s house in Norman and took him back Sunday afternoon.
We had him two nights, all of Saturday and a part of Sunday.
Come Sunday evening after we returned from Norman, Pat and I were tired.
But tired is all right.
When we have the opportunity to spend that much time with him it’s well worth being somewhat wore out.
It’s such a pleasure to have him around and having him Easter made that weekend even more special. Keeping him gives our daughter Meghan and son-in-law Terry a little more time for themselves.
They can relax at home or just enjoy dinner without worrying about the little guy.
Liam seems to also have fun when he’s at Granddad and Gigi’s house. He can go to Gigi’s pantry because he knows exactly where she keeps his favorite snacks.
With our large, fenced backyard he can run around, play in the two old dog pens we have, or drive his little Gator around on the expanded concrete patio.
He knows where to find his little fire place shovel we keep for him on the patio. That’s now his shovel.
Easter weekend he would dig the sand up and put it on the patio, then get the broom and sweep it off.
Or he would use his shovel to try and take it up off the patio.
He likes moving around the smaller logs on our firewood rack in one of those old dog pens. He’ll pick one up and place it in a bucket and then take it out and put it back on the rack.
He’s a busy little boy. It’s like he rarely stops moving. He’s in constant motion, whether he’s outside or playing inside.
We have an old wheel barrow we use and we keep it in one of the dog pens. I probably started something this time he was here and I’m sure the next time he’ll remember it.
He wanted me to get it out of the dog pen. He climbed in it, and wanted me to push him around.
So I did, 2 or 3 times, thinking that would be enough. Wrong! He thought Granddad should do it some more and some more so we did.
Wow!
I started something and quickly found out I need to get in better shape.
He’s learned how to say “no,” really well, but also lets us know when he wants something.
He still goes to Gigi most of the time whenever he wants something.
Occasionally, he’ll do that with me. But most of the time, it’s Gigi.
As we drove him back to Norman that Sunday afternoon, Pat and I talked about how we miss him before we even get him home.
We talked about how much we enjoy having Liam around and how we miss him when he isn’t.
It was truly a wonderful Easter weekend.
