Happenings at Prairie Pointe

Stroud Police were called to the Cozumel Mexican Restaurant Friday. There was a burrito burglary in progress. Upon arriving at the scene, officers apprehended a four- legged suspect who answers to the name of Buddy. Buddy had spent the morning in the shop at Stroud Tire but when his owner failed to provide him a ride home, he took off in search of lunch. He was later released on his owner’s recognizance. Buddy is Prairie Pointe’s mascot and kitchen scrap consumer. He was also caught on camera at 3 AM last week breaking and entering the garage of Taylor and Lauren Wheeler. I have learned this was not the first time. This is the dog we thought spent his nights curled up on a rug in the garage.

Keturah Brown, Beverley Graham, Jo Sperry, Glenda Rains, Marion Lytle, and Thelma Mauldin, Lisa Gordon and Clara Hodgens attended the Memorial Day program at the Stroud Cemetery last Monday. It was a wonderful event. Afterwards we drove around the cemetery and visited the graves of many old friends and people who made Stroud such a fine place to live and raise a family. Later in the day, Rachel Handley and Helen Arrington made the same journey. It is amazing to see the American flags decorating every grave of a service member. That had to be quite a job to get each grave marked.

Celebrated the seventh Sunday following Easter, Pentecost Sunday services were led by Phil Johnson, Wirt Trawick and Beverley Graham. During the services, Holy Communion was served. Pentecost is recognized by Christians as the day that the church was born. Christ was crucified, rose again, spent thirty days with his disciples, then ascended to heaven. Pentecost immediately followed.

June is a big month for birthdays at Prairie Pointe. June babies include residents Roy Flatt, Keturah Brown, Alton McCune, Joyce Seelig, and Martha Bookout.

Melissa Stambaugh and Laurie Walker at the Lincoln County Election Board have been helpful in getting us forms for absentee ballots to vote on June 30. We have residents who have never missed voting and even a deadly virus is not going to stop them now.

Alison Emmons and Don McManus outdid themselves this weekend working in the yard at Prairie Pointe. Thanks guys - it looks great!
