The Meeker Board of Education this week voted to offer a contract to School Supt. Jeff Pruitt for the 2022-2023 school year.
The board went into executive session before returning to the open meeting and taking the vote.
During his report, High School Principal Brad Buxton advised the board members, “There are lots of activities, lots of basketball going on. Next week, we will host the 66 Conference tournament and everybody is assisting with that.”
He also informed the members the annual Meeker Swine Jackpot Show was held last Saturday at the Lincoln County Ag Center.
“We had 327 hogs, almost double what we had a year ago,” he said.
He noted they moved the show to the Ag Center in Chandler to accommodate more swine and people.
Buxton told the board high school enrollment currently numbers 214 students.
Middle School Principal Rodney Treat advised the board enrollment is at 144.
“We have some kids who have decided to go virtual.”
He also related to board members several of the athletic activities taking place, including basketball, archery and powerlifting.
Elementary Principal Candice Gatz said enrollment stands at 343. “We’ve gotten seven or eight new students,” she advised the board.
Meeker Education Center/Alternative Education Principal Ginger Pritchard reported, “There are 87 students, minus four, in K-12 that are taking advantage of the virtual and blended learning opportunities.
“We had five of the seven students that had previously applied for early graduation complete all graduation requirements,” she advised board members.
