This week we had another meeting about the Quapaw 15 project.
Those in attendance from Natural Resource Conservation Service were Valerie Glasgow, Dustin Livingston, Dennis Fowler, and Tucker Thompson. Members from the Lincoln County Conservation District were Wade Helms, and Heather Layman. Jeff Dean was the senior engineer geotechnical services from Terracon.
The town of Meeker was represented by Town Administrator Dickie Walton, PWA Joe Jones, Charles Crowley, and Tim Helm. Six different sites were decided on for Terracon to pull dirt samples to be tested for quality and compaction ratio.
The next project on the agenda is for a diver to come and repair the metal doors on the concrete tower so a camera may be sent up the water line for inspection.
We have received our bids for the playground equipment for Glenn Crest Park. I have been working with engineers about placement of the playground equipment in the area available. I have in the plans a new paved parking lot double the size we have now, walking path, exercise area and equipment, all the new playground equipment from four to nine pieces depending on sizes, basketball court, volleyball court, T-ball field, and lighting. We will have fun watching all this come together.
The police department officers are using the new body cameras and are incredibly happy with the whole new system. When you see our officers, smile because now you are on Meeker’s candid camera.
We have had several compliments on the beautification of Main Street. Growth and development put all the water trough planters around town with pretty flowers and plants.
It is good to see the library back open.
Please remember to practice good social distancing, washing of hands and all other habits of cleanliness.
Armed Forces Day is Saturday May 16th, if you see a veteran or military person tell them thank you for their service, I know we sure do thank them.
City Wide Clean-Up starts Saturday May 23rd and runs through the following Sunday May 31st. Dumpsters will be at the Meeker High School Gym. Please remember to follow the guidelines of no hazardous materials, construction materials, and items must weigh less than 50 lbs. Meeker Police Department will be supervising the dump rolls offs. Gloves, t-shirts, safety vests, trash bags, and water will be available for individuals or groups interested in helping. You may get your picture in the paper for helping.
Thank you everyone for the continued support of all our businesses here in town. Let us keep it up.
Thanks to our county commissioners, they have voted to open the county courthouse and other entities. Let us gradually get back out there to support everyone as they open. Please remember if you do not feel comfortable going out yet, then do not, better safe than sorry.
