Week of March 15-21

Chandler

For the week: 1-2. Win over Sweet Water (9-0). Losses to Madison Academy(10-9) and Cascade (8-4). Record: 3-5 for the season and 0-2 in district.

Maddox Metheny scattered five hits over six shutout innings shutout and struck out nine in the win over Sweet Water, Ala.

Bryson Taylor was 3-for-4 at the plate with two RBI and Metheny also drove in two runs.

The Lions fell behind Madison Academy 4-0 early, but took a 7-4 lead before Madison scored two in the bottom of the seventh to win. Catcher Sawyer Sims was 2-for-2 with a pair of walks and drove in three runs. Metheny had two RBI and Rhett Haley had two singles and scored twice.

Sims had two more hits and three RBI in the game against Cascade Valley, Ala. He and Christian Goeller each had a double and Landon Earp had two singles.

Dale

For the week: 2-1. Wins over Deer Creek (12-2) and Bishop McGuinness (5-3). Loss to Verdigris (7-3). Record: 2-1 for the season.

The Pirates roughed up Deer Creek pitching for dozen hits and a dozen runs on Friday and won, 12-2.

Cruz Garrett had a triple, a single and two RBI, Braylon White had a double and single and knocked in two runs, A.J. Carpenter had a pair of singles and three RBI.

Briar Turman and Garrett benefitted from the offense on the mound. Turman started and got the win, throwing four innings, giving up three hits and one run. Garrett pitched three innings, giving up three hits and a run while whiffing five batters.

Bishop McGuinness got off to a 1-0 lead in the second, but Dale tied the score in the bottom of the third when Garrett drew a bases-loaded walk, bringing Elvis Edwards in to score.

Denton Forsythe singled in the fourth to score Turman to put the Pirates ahead.

Andrew Collins doubled and Carver Crowson tripled. Against Verdigris, Crowson singled in the bottom of the fourth to drive in Chase Harris and Garrett for two Dale’s runs. Braylon White drove home Race Higdon with a single in the bottom of the fifth for the other.

Davenport

For the week: 1-3. Win over Lebanon (9-3). Losses to Park Hill South (9-3) and East Carter (10-0) and Branson (13-3). Record: 6-7 for the season.

The Bulldogs had four pitchers combine for a four-hitter in the win over Lebanon. Chase Mitchell, the winning pitcher, went 3 and 2/3 innings, giving up only two hits and one earned run. Brennan Stokes threw an inning, Reece Murfin pitched 2/3 of an inning and Carter Marshall went 1 and 2/3 without giving up a hit.

Edwards had a double and drove in two runs, Mitchell had a double and Devin Murfin had a pair of singles.

Runs were at a premium against Park Hill South and East Carter. Brody Robinson, Marshall and Laken Durbin had a hit in each game, with Marshall getting a double against East Carter.

McLoud

For the week: 1-2. Win over Perkins-Tryon (8-6). Losses to Harrah (11-0) and North Rock Creek (13-0). Record: 2-8 for the season 0-4 in district.

Brayden Smith had a double, a triple and three RBI to lead the Redskins past Perkins on Thursday.

Smith, Chase Bane and Justus Rooker scored three times each and Kaden Mendenhall went six innings on the mound, giving up just three hits and three earned runs while breezing six.

Meeker

3-2 for the week. Wins over Idabel (8-0), Booker T. Washington (13-9) and Nathan Hale (16-4)Losses to Wagoner (11-3) and Wright City (8-5). Record: 9-2 for the season and 2-0 in district.

The Bulldogs rebounded from their first two losses of the season to hammer Idabel, 8-0, behind the pitching and hitting of Titus Grimes.

Grimes threw a 5-inning complete game, allowing six hits and striking out 10 and went for 2-for-3 at the plate with a pair of RBI.

Castin Schafer also had two hits and a pair of RBI and Maverick Herring scored twice.

Daythan Lawson had a pair of hits and Bryce Bussell and Caleb Heath had an RBI each in the Wagoner game.

Against Wright City, Jason Key had a triple and single and an RBI and Lawson had three hits and drove home a run.

The Bulldogs went to Cleveland on Saturday and won a pair, beating Booker T. Washington and Tulsa Hale.

Booker T. got out to an early 6-4 lead, but Meeker exploded for seven runs in the fifth inning and added a pair in the sixth.

The Bulldogs rapped 13 hits, with Bussell and Brodey Manning collecting three singles each and scored three times apiece. Manning drove in a pair of runs.

Maverick Herring doubled twice and drove in three runs. Schafer had a pair of sacrifice flies and drove in three runs.

Against Hale, Heath had a pair of hits and four RBI while Herring had a double and single and drove in three.

Bussell, Manning and Key had doubles.

North Rock Creek

For the week: Wins over Bristow (16-1 and 16-5), Harrah ( 8-0) and McLoud (13-0). Loss to Heritage Hall (6-3). Record: 6-4 overall and 4-0 in district.

The Bristow Pirates probably hope they never see Landon Rosser again.

He went 7-for-8 against them in two games early last week, with two home runs, three doubles and a triple and eight RBI. That’s a whopping 18 total bases for the two games.

In the first game on Tuesday, he homered in the fourth and sixth innings, went 4-for-4, doubled twice and drove in five runs. In the second game, he was 3-for-4 with a triple, a double and an RBI.

In the first game, Hasten Conley tripled and had four RBI, Jace Plumb doubled, singled and knocked in four runs.

In the second game, Plumb tripled, singled and drove in a run, Hunter Bertram tripled, singled and drove in two runs, Mavrick Wingo tripled, singled and drove in two.

Drake Clemmons had three singles and drove in two runs in the second Bristow game, then went 2-for-3 with a double in the loss to Heritage Hall.

Tyler Bergsten threw a six-inning one-hitter against Harrah, allowing only one single and facing one batter more than the minimum.

Bertram homered and drove in two runs, Conley doubled twice and scored twice and Plumb hit a double.

Prague

For the week: 2-0. Wins over Okemah (184) and Holdenville (10-0).

Record: 6-2 for the season and 0-2 in district.

The Red Devils exploded for 40 hits in two games last week, banging out 22 against Little Axe and 18 against Okemah.

Braxton Carpenter swung the biggest stick, going 7-for-8 in the two games with four doubles and seven RBI.

Talan Thomas had two doubles and three RBI against Little Axe, Henry Hankins was 3-for-3 with a double and two RBI, winning pitcher Eli Grange was 3-for-4 with an RBI and Colt Thomas had two doubles and three RBI.

Against Okemah, Hayden Kinslow had a double, a single and five RBI and Hankins doubled and drove in two runs.

Stroud For the week: 2-1. Wins over Newkirk (11-1) and Tonkawa (11-6). Loss to Cashion (12-4). Record: 5-4 for the season.

Cal Shields homered, singled twice and drove in three runs against Newkirk in the opening game of the Tonkawa tournament.

Jessen Leathers had a pair of hits and two RBI and Gideon Smalley got the win on the mound, allowing only two hits in four innings while striking out six.

Shields had two hits and three RBI on Friday against Tonkawa and Landry Davis had a double and two RBI.

Stryker Bray got the pitching win, allowing 11 hits but only one earned run over five innings.

Jeremiah Cropp led the offense against Cashion Saturday, getting a double and two singles. Shields tripled and Bray had a pair of singles.
