Meeker board hears request for termination

A parent of a Special Needs student called for the termination of a Meeker School District employee during a Board of Education meeting Monday night.

Cassie Beeson addressed the board during the public comments session of the meeting, saying, “I am here to take a stand on behalf of my daughter.”

Beeson advised the board, “I am requesting the resignation and/or termination of Breanna Sebourn.”

Sebourn is reportedly an aide at the Middle School.

Beeson also said she thought Pam Leone, director of Special Education, “is just as guilty for letting this happen and continue,” but she didn’t call for her resignation or termination.

Leone was in atten dance at Monday evening’s board meeting. She said she had no comment.

Beeson said she was at the board meeting, too, to try and fix what she called an injustice happening to her daughter and possibly other children with special needs in the school.

Board President Ashley Sellers advised Beeson before she addressed board members they would not be able to comment after she finished talking.

Beeson spoke several minutes, saying, “My daughter is special needs and her ADA rights are being violated and that is not ok.”

The board members proceeded with the remainder of the agenda after listening to Beeson.

Both Leone and Sebourn were among those rehired Monday night for the 2022-2023 school year.
