Chandler 57, Stroud 9

Casmen Hill went over 5,000 yards rushing for his career and Chandler racked up 511 yards of total offense to take a 57-9 win over Lincoln County rival Stroud Friday night.

Stroud got off to an early 9-7 lead, but Chandler quarterback Alec Jackson ran for one score and threw to Kodey Pittman for another to make it 21-9 at the end of the first period.

Hill peeled off scoring runs of 44 and 47 yards before the half and scored on a 60-yarder to open the third period, sealing the game’s outcome.

For the game, Hill had a dozen carries for 273 yards and his three touchdowns.

“He’s had an impresssive career, and he has shown that hard work pays off,” Chandler coach Jack Gray said of Hill’s 5,000 yards. “It’s a great accomplishment and couldn’t happen to a better person.

“He’s still got a lot of room to go, as well. Hopefully, he eclipses the 6,000-yard mark.”

Hill’s yards were only one part of an impressive offensive showing by the Lions. They averaged more than 13 yards per running play and almost 14 per offensive snap.

Stroud started strong offensively, as well, using a long pass to Gave Wilson to set up a 21-yard field goal by Cameron Stewart early in the first period.

Brayden Nation put Chandler in front with a 15-- yard touchdown pass a few minutes later, but Stroud quarterback Dylan Baker hit Brady Nichols along the south sideline for a 55-yard catch-and-run touchdown that gave Stroud a 9-7 lead.

That was high-water mark for the Tigers, though, as they began having trouble consistently moving the ball.

Chandler, meanwhile, shifted into a different gear and put up 50 answered points.

“I’m happy with how we moved the ball. They did a lot of things, moving the front around, but our line did a great job and stayed on blocks. The quarterback through the ball around and was efficient.

“The defense has to start faster. They did a great job and hit us with a good gameplan. Their quarterback is a good player and they can do a lot more things now. They’re going to be good.”
