Charges in gun-related case

A Sparks man faces two felony charges and he has at least two prior convictions.

A Wellston resident also has been charged with a felony, and court records show he has five previous convictions for felonies. A bench warrant has been issued for his arrest.

Kenntreell Lashawn Smith, 43, of Sparks, has been formally charged in Lincoln County District Court with threatening to perform an act of violence and possession of a firearm after former felony conviction.

Smith appeared before Special Judge Emily Mueller earlier in December. His bond was set at $7,500 and his pre-preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 4, 2021, court records show.

He is accused of unlawfully threatening to kill two women on Nov. 19, 2020, and to burn down their house in Sparks.

Smith also faces a charge for possessing a Beretta PX4 Storm 9mm handgun and a Springfield XD45 handgun located at 349026 East Ranch Drive in Sparks after having been convicted of Pointing Firearms in an Oklahoma County case on May 12, 1999.

Pottawatomie and Lincoln Counties District Attorney Allan Grubb, in supplemental information filed in the case, states Smith was also convicted of second degree burglary, a felony, on Jan. 20, 2012.

The Wellston resident authorities are still searching for is Steven Ray McAlister, 39.

He was charged in Lincoln County District Court with Domestic Assault and Battery,

He’s accused of assaulting his girlfriend on Oct. 15, 2020, by hurling a large rock through a window smashing the window and causing her injuries from the shards of glass at or near East Pecan Meadows Lane in Wellston.

Supplemental information filed by Grubb in the case shows McAlister has several prior convictions.

They include two convictions for second degree forgery in September of 2004 for which he was sentenced to four years on each charge. Distribution of Controlled Dangerous Substance in March of 2003 which he was sentenced to 10 years.

In November of 2007 he was sentenced to 20 years following a conviction for possession of stolen property.

And in October of 2007 he was convicted of rape in the first degree and drew a 20-year prison term.
