The Dale Board of Education this week hired certified personnel for the 2022-2023 school year and also hired a new Middle School principal for 2022- 2023.
But board members tabled the hiring of a Secondary principal and an Elementary principal for 2022-2023.
The Board also hired the Athletic Department personnel for 2022-2023.
Their actions came after they returned from an executive session that lasted about 45 minutes.
Acting School Supt. Ky Wilkins advised the board, “We’re in need of a Middle School administrator.”
With that he recommended Kim Powell as Middle School Principal and the board voted 5-0 in favor of naming her to the position.
On both the Secondary and Elementary School Principal positions Wilkins recommended tabling any action, saying, “We’ll look at that again in May.”
Currently J.D. Widner is Secondary Principal and Courtney Howser is Elementary Principal.
Wilkins was asked after the meeting why the recommendations to table the positions and he said, “that is a personnel issue and you know I can’t comment.”

Elementary teachers: Kelcie Badley, Brittany Collier, Kasey Collins, Jeanna Dickinson, Cheryl Eichling, Hilda Findley, Jennifer Galloway, Stacy Gill, Leslie Havlicek, Margaret Mocabee, Pam Motley, Jana Richardson, Amy Roberts, Emilie Rohr, Marty Shirey, Kaylee Townley and Kelley Willis.
Secondary teachers include: Carren Cantrell, Jeff Edmonson, Michelle Edmonson, Josh Forsythe, Mark Glenzer, Louri Goodwin, Jon Golliver, Dana Hathcock, Toby Hathcock, Cindy Hill, Jacque Huff, Eddie Jeffcoat, Reed Johnson, Nick Noble.
And Marcia Permenter, Jason Reece, Allison Robinson, Eric Smith, Alisha Payne, Sydney Hutchison, Scott Wilson, Diana Wilkins, Jill Wooldridge, Andy Powell, Eric Worley, Bryce Clemons, Taylor Chesser and Holly Thompson.
Athletic director and coaches hired include:
Jason Reece, athletic director and coaches Jeff Edmonson, Josh Forsythe, Eddie Jeffcoat, Reed Johnson, Andy Powell, Eric Smith, Scott Wilson, Eric Worley, Bryce Clemons and Bruce Throckmorton.
The board also received five resignations including Russ Tarpey, April Baumgarten, Cara Alonzo, Bri Golliver and Tamee Daniel.
Wilkins reviewed with the board revenue comparisons between March of 2021 and March.
Through March of 2021, warrants totaled $3,582,496 and through March of 2022 the figure is $3,858,942 which is $276,446 more.
Local revenue, which is money the state cannot touch, totaled $1,227,474 through last month this year.
The building fund in March of a year ago stood at $112,571. Last month it totaled $108,166 which is about $4,405 down.
The district’s cash balance in March of 2021 was $528,151. In March, it totaled $949,407. That is an increase of $421,258 over a year ago.
State aid received through March of 2022 was $2,182,278 and that is $114,490 more than the $2,067,788 received through March of a year ago.
The County Education sales tax balance currently stands at $425,339 Wilkins said.
Also, in his Superintendent’s report, Wilkins said the district received $74,000 in Redbud money and that a compressor went out in the new high school but is under warranty.
A $4,000 donation was received this week for the band program, Wilkins advised the board.
He informed them Bruce Throckmorton, former elementary principal who has been hired to raise money for the athletic department, has raised $32,000 this year.
