The number of new cases in the area attributed to COVID-19 has jumped a little in Pottawatomie and Lincoln Counties, Oklahoma State Department of Health figures show.
There have been no new deaths in Pottawatomie County but there has been one in Lincoln County since the last report. The OSDH has quit reporting gender and age group of those who have passed away due to COVID-19.
The OSDH recently began reporting the breakdown of deaths and new cases on a weekly basis rather than daily. The agency has stated the reason is because of the decline in COVID-19 cases.
The agency is releasing that information on Wednesdays so the most recent numbers provided here are from May 5 since this week’s edition went to press Tuesday night, May 11.
There have been 125 deaths in Pottawatomie County attributed to COVID-19.
Lincoln County has 71 reported deaths. The number of positive cases has risen just a bit in both Pottawatomie and Lincoln counties, OSDH figures show.
The number of new positive tests in Pottawatomie County jumped by 16 and in Lincoln County they increased by 9, according to figures provided by the OSDH.
Between the two counties, the number of positive tests jumped by 25 from the most recent report by the OSDH. The previous report had that number increasing by 32.

The number of people testing positive for the virus in Pottawatomie County now stands at 8,335. Last report it was 8,319.
The total number testing positive in the two counties now stands at 11,574.
Total number of people who have recovered in the two counties is now 11,341 the OSDH said. In Pottawatomie County, 8,188 have recovered and 3,153 have recovered in Lincoln County.
The OSDH reported as of May 5, statewide 449,266 people have tested positive, there have been 6,832 Oklahoma deaths.
Active cases stood at 2,354. The OSDH has stopped reporting total number of recovered statewide.
This week on Tuesday, the OSDH reported 85 new positive cases confirmed.
