BRIAN BLANSETT Staff writer Chandler’s Lions were behind by two touchdowns before they got to run their first offensive play at Jones Friday, and things didn’t get much better after that.
The result was a 27-point win for the Longhorns in what was a defacto showdown for first place in District 2A2.
The Lions could have been district champions with a win over Jones and another over second-place Luther in the final game of the season.
Now the Lions are 3-2 in district play and will need some help to finish in the top two and get a first-round playoff game at home.
The Lions host Star-Spencer next week The Longhorns scored on its first possession and then recovered a fumble on the kickoff.
They were back in the end zone a few plays later and led 13-0.
They pushed the lead to 27-0 before the Lions got a touchdown run from Casmen Hill with 1:08 left in the third period.
Hill had 116 yards rushing on the night, including a 60-yard run to set up the touchdown.
