Dale Board of Education meeting

Dale Board of Education members this week rehired School Supt. Will Jones and approved stipends for staff.After spending some time in executive session, board members returned to open meeting. Board member Robin Wiley Greene said the board hired Jones back and extended his contract for another year.

Demos to meet

The next meeting of the Lincoln County Democratic Party will be Thursday December 11 at the Chandler Public Library. The meeting will start at 6:00PM; doors open and refreshments at 5:30. Our guest speaker will be Dr Kelly Forbes, Democratic candidate for Lieutenant Governor.

Precinct to close

Lincoln County Election Board Secretary Dena Jo Bromley announced today that the Paden School District has opted to close Precinct 22 in Okfuskee County for the Board of Education Primary Election scheduled for February 10th.

A district judge granted a temporary stay on the demolition of the St. Cloud buildings on Dec. 1, conditional on the plaintiff posting a supersedeas bond of $300,000 or a ruling by the appellate court on the matter by Dec. 16.

The American Legion building, affectionately known as “The Hut,” has many memories for not only Chandler residents, but folks from around the area.Steve Dowdy and his mother, Ivola Dowdy, reminisced about family reunions there.

Chandler Council changes retirement

The Chandler City Council voted to introduce the Defined Contribution Plan for city employees through the Oklahoma Municipal Retirement Fund at its regular meeting on Nov. 18.

Hearing set in embezzlement

A Meeker couple arrested and charged with embezzling more than $170,000 from a Meeker church they had pastored have made their initial appearance and their preliminary hearings have been scheduled.Formal charges of embezzlement were filed Oct. 29 in Lincoln County District Count against Michael J.
