Appreciating the feathered friends

A couple of years ago I penned in this column that my wife Pat and I certainly wouldn’t be considered any type of bird watchers. That is our knowledge of all the various types of birds is somewhat limited. We had just experienced a historic, major winter snowstorm.

Town Talk volunteers and the American Legion Auxiliary are hosting an “Olive Garden” luncheon this Sunday, February 5th at the First Baptist Church Family Life Center. All profits from this event will go towards the balance on our Bugle Boy statue.

Tax questions deserve ‘yes’ answers

Lincoln County voters will head to the polls in a couple of weeks to decide a sales tax proposition and those in the Chandler School District have a bond issue as well. The election is scheduled for Feb. 14.

Too much advance notice? Yeah, maybe

Last Sunday night, actually it was in the wee hours of Monday morning, I heard a ding on my phone. I also heard a ding on my wife Pat’s phone. I could tell this wasn’t a text message, so there was no reason to be alarmed. This was about 45 minutes after we had climbed into bed.

Conference rescheduled in mistrial

A status conference has been re-scheduled for a Tulsa woman charged with first degree manslaughter and multiple other felony offenses whose trial was declared a mistrial in 2022 and is to be retried.

Chickens

With the price of eggs apparently climbing to $150 a dozen, it’s tempting to start back raising chickens and turkeys.

Boy, oh, boy!

You know the fun part of birthday parties when everyone sings happy birthday and you get to blow out the candles on your cake? Well that part turns out to be Charlee’s least favorite part. She sat terrified while everyone sang!

Take advantage of right to vote

Last weekend I received a piece of mail from my county election board. It was an application for absentee ballot. By filling out this application, it will allow the county election board to send me absentee ballots for all elections which I am eligible to participate in this calendar year (2023).
