Last January, Chandler played basketball against Okemah. One of Okemah’s players damaged Jake Smithey’s shoe. Jake had to be pulled out of the game. At halftime, Coach Blankenship asked if anyone in the gym had a size 11 shoe they would let Jake wear. Matt Legere was the only one.

Cell phone bill

I see where a state representative has a bill that, if passed, is aimed at attempting to further help restrict cell phone use while driving a vehicle. My first reaction to this was mixed. I understand what Rep.

Town Talk and the American Legion Auxiliary will be hosting our second “Olive Garden” lasagna luncheon in March. Date and location will immediately be posted on Facebook once it’s confirmed. The Bugle Boy is scheduled to arrive in Stroud next week.

Congratulations to county voters

It was encouraging to see voters throughout Lincoln County show up last week and approve two propositions. Voters overwhelmingly gave a thumbs up to renewal of the one percent county sales tax for another five years with 78.78 percent in favor of the proposition.

Hunting, fishing and memories

Hunting and fishing has changed so much since I was a kid. Of course that’s been considerably over 60 years. That can probably be attributed to all the various rules and regulations put in place by the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation over a period of time.

Remembering, 30 years later

Activities happening around Stroud for the next few days are Metal Detecting Club will meet at Stroud City Hall, tonight (Thursday), February 16th at 7:00 p.m., Central Vo-Tech in Drumright will hold their annual open house from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m.

Kingdom of Heaven

Many don’t realize they are to communicate with their soul. We do a lot of things our soul doesn’t like, and when we do we are causing our soul to stop communicating. Many hear their soul but don’t give thought to what it says. It is cut off by the cares of this life.

Getting ready for Valentine’s Day

Next Tuesday is Valentine’s Day. I learned many years ago what needs to be done for this day. I’ve done different things, but there are some basics that have become entrenched in my mind that are a must. One is, order the flowers early. Not just any flowers, but roses.
