Metheny moves to high school principal

The Chandler Board of Education this week hired a new high school principal, swore in a newly appointed board member and accepted the resignations of several people. School Supt. Scott Baade said the board hired Geoff Metheny as high school principal for the 2023-2024 school year.

Kileigh Mixon won three events to lead Stroud’s girls to a first-place finish at the Okemah track meet Friday. The Lady Tigers finished with 98 points, with Chandler coming in second with 76.

Cougars named to all-conference team

NRC senior Jace McRay was named the North Canadian River Conference defensive player of the year and was joined on the all-conference first team by Jordan Coody and Devon Haney.

McLoud approves hunting coordinators

McLoud City Council members during their most recent meeting appointed hunting coordinators for Wes Watkins Lake for the next couple of years. They also approved the closeout of a CDBG sewer line project and purchased extrication equipment for the fire department.

Tiger Classic Randall, Mixon, McGough win two

Seniors Kileigh Mixon from Stroud and Riley Randall from Meeker and freshman Lila McGough from Chandler won two events each Saturday at the Tiger Classic track meet in Stroud. McGough won the 200 and 400 meter dashes and helped the Chandler girls to a second-place finish.
