Lincoln County commissioners this week approved a contract with the 911 Trust Authority Board and they also awarded a bid for the Lincoln County Fair Board reroof.On the bid for the reroof, commissioners awarded that to Commercial Roof Solutions for $518,437.

Two talented young athletes, Marley Miller (14) and Ridley Bendele (14), from Chandler made their mark at the 2025 National Little Britches Rodeo Finals (NLBFR) held June 29 through July 5 at the Lazy E Arena in Guthrie.

Meeker FFA gets $30K grant

The Meeker FFA Chapter has been awarded two grants totaling $30,000 from the Oklahoma Department of Career and Technology Education, also known as Oklahoma CareerTech. Funded by the Oklahoma State Lottery, the grants will provide a boost to the school’s agricultural mechanics program.

Suzie Campbell, publisher of the Countywide & Sun in Tecumseh, officially assumed the role of president of the Oklahoma Press Association (OPA) on July 1.OPA members elected Campbell during the association’s annual business meeting, held June 6-7 at the OPA Convention in Shawnee.

UCO honor rolls

The University of Central Oklahoma (UCO) has released its spring 2025 honor roll lists, which include students from Lincoln County.A total of 1,692 students were named to the President’s Honor Roll for achieving a 4.0 grade point average (GPA) during the semester, according to UCO.

Davenport held its annual Fourth of July celebration at North Park on July 4. The event included free hot dogs and watermelon, along with games for everyone from children up to adults before a firework display that started after dark.
