Chandler’s offense purred like a new car and the defense rang up its second shutout of the season Thursday night. The result: a 35-0 victory over the Crossing Christian Knights that sets up this week’s showdown with Jones for first place in District 2A-2.

NRC falls in state semifinals

Eventual state champion Newcastle came from behind with two late-inning home runs and eliminated North Rock Creek, 5-4, in the Class 4A state semifinals last week. North Rock Creek beat Weatherford, 2-0, in the first round and led Newcastle until the sixth inning.

Tigers 53, Konawa 12

The Stroud Tigers whopped Konawa 53-12 Friday night, pushing their district record to 4-0 and 5-2 overall. The Tigers, ranked 6th in the state in Class A, journey to Mounds on Thursday to play the Golden Eagles, 3-1 in district and a likely playoff team.

Jones 36, Bulldogs 8

Davenport 38, Summit 36

Davenport opened district action with a win last week, squeezing by Summit 38-36 in a home contest. The Bulldogs are now 2-5 overall and 1-0 in district as they prepare to entertain Weleetka at home Friday night. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m.

Judge should resign

Embattled Lincoln County District Judge Traci Soderstrom should do what is right and immediately resign from her position. Last week following an extensive investigation by the Oklahoma Council of Judicial Complaints, the State Supreme Court filed a petition seeking Soderstrom’s removal.

Remembering old dogs

Recently, I wrote about some of the pets I’ve had in my life and mentioned a little dog I had while growing up. Her name was Mitzi. The other day, as I was taking a step back in time and just reflecting a bit, I got to thinking more about her.

During a meeting in which a full board was not in attendance the Lincoln County Fair Board has passed a rule that no one under the age of 5 can exhibit anything in the Lincoln County Free Fair in 2024. This goes for all species of livestock (Horses, Cattle, Sheep, Goats, Rabbits, and Chickens).
