Geneva Rae (Graham) McLain was born September 16, 1942 in Wellston to Raymond and Edna (Gilbert) Graham. She passed away March 3, 2023 in Wellston at the age of 80. Geneva grew up in Wellston where she graduated with the Wellston Class of 1960.

Lions of the Month announced

Chandler High School has announced that the March Lions of the Month are Lory Dugger, Bo Barton and Payton Miller. Lory Dugger is the daughter of Sabrina Dugger.

Democrats to meet

McLoud couple arrested in 2021 case

The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation has arrested a McLoud couple in connection with the murder of a reported missing man who staying in their home.

Commissioners approve confidential settlement

Lincoln County commissioners this week voted to approve certification and a confidential settlement distribution statement for the Janssen Opioid Settlement. County Clerk Alicia Wagnon said the county’s portion was more than $36,000. She advised commissioners that no resolution was ready yet.

Chandler appoints school board member

Chandler’s Board of Education this week voted to appoint a new member to the board, modified the contract of School Supt. Scott Baade and approved the re-employment of three of its principals. Board members also accepted the resignations of two teachers and a principal.

Arrest made in woman’s death

Special Agents from the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) have arrested a Norman man in connection with the murder of Charissia Dawn Bell of Wellston. Bell’s remains were discovered at Lake Thunderbird on Monday, Feb. 13, 2023. Austin Godwin, 30, of Norman, was arrested on Feb.

Five felonies in shooting case

A Lincoln County man is facing five felony charges after reportedly shooting at his parents and leading law enforcement officers on a high speed pursuit before being caught and arrested.

Warrant issued in fatal collision

A $20,000 bench warrant has been issued for the arrest of a young Prague man charged with first degree manslaughter as the result of a fatal traffic collision. A formal charge was filed March 2 this year in Lincoln County District Court against Joseph Resin Linnhuber.

Gordon Richards Scholarship winners

Eight young women and men are this year’s recipients of the Gordon Richards, Sr. Achievement Award sponsored by the Clinic Pharmacy. Tim and Jamie Barrick are owners of the pharmacy. This is the 78th year for the award that was originated in 1946 by the late Gordon Richards, Sr.
