Thoughts on Father’s Day

With Father’s Day coming up this Sunday, I’ve been thinking of what it’s been like to be a father for all these years and a grandfather for almost four years.

Putt-Putt Kicks on Route 66 is open for business. We are still working out our hours of operation. We will continue to post them on Facebook on the Stroud Functions and Happenings page. Our goal is to have shade awnings over the course to help with the heat of the day.

Early voting

Early voting begins Thursday, June 23, 2022, for voters in Lincoln County. Voters who will not be able to make it to the polls on Election Day, have the option of voting early at their County Election Board.

Lions’ new dock in place

For those who enjoy fishing, a new floating fishing dock has been installed at Chandler’s old lake, due to the efforts of the Chandler Lions Club. Keith Duncan, president of the club explained, “We try to do something whenever we can for the community.

Carrie Mae (Moore) Lashly

Carrie Mae (Moore) Lashly, age 81 of Sioux Falls, S.D., died June 2, 2022 at Dougherty Hospice House. She was born March 20, 1932, in Cushing, Okla., to William Frederick Moore and Ida Belle (Horne) Moore. Lashly worked as a teacher and was a member of First Baptist Church in Sioux Falls, S.D.

Floyd L. Lashly

Floyd L. Lashly, age 88 of Sioux Falls, S.D., died Dec. 12, 2020 at Sanford, Sioux Falls S.D. He was born Oct. 12, 1932, in Maud, Okla. to Floyd L. Lashly Sr. and Violet V. (Farmer) Lashly. Lashly worked for the US Public Health Service/ Indian Health administration.

Nona Faith Greenfield

Nona Faith Greenfield, 68, died surrounded by her family on May 31, 2022, at her home in Shawnee. Faith was born on Oct. 4, 1953, in Savannah, Ga. to proud parents Patsy (Parker) and Ferman Davis. On June 25, 1971, she married the love of her life, Virgil “Gene” Greenfield.

Philip Dean Lambert

Philip Dean Lambert was born Feb. 17, 1945 in Logan, West Virginia to Frank and Armelda (Nester) Lambert. He died peacefully June 3, 2022 in Stroud, Okla. at the age of 77. He served 6 years in the Army National Guard.
