A ‘yes’ for Daylight Saving Time

There’s been a bill floating around in the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate for some time that will keep Daylight Saving Time permanent. If approved, that means we won’t have to turn them back and forward anymore.

Alumni/Memorial Day weekend is fast approaching. People have begun to talk about all the activities taking place locally the last weekend in May. One thing on the agenda is the opening of the minigolf course.

State champs!

It was an exciting few days for area high school sports On Friday, Stroud high jumper Kileigh Mixon won her second straight Class 2A state championship and tied the state record by jumping 5 feet, 8 inches.

Baade new superintendent

The Chandler Board of Education has hired a new superintendent for the 2022-2023 school year, completing their search to replace Melody Toma who is retiring in June. Scott Baade has been selected as the new superintendent.

Regional softball

Katy Larson from North Rock Creek and Karsen Griggs for Dale sported the homer chains after cranking home runs in regional tournament play last week.

NRC girls qualify for state golf tournament

One area high school girls golf team is headed to the state tournament today and Friday and two other girls from another school were competing as individuals in the state tourney Wednesday and today. One boy has qualified to play in the state tournament next week.

District champions

The Chandler Lions pose for a photo with their district championship trophy after beating Holdenville, 3-1 and 11-1 last week. The Lions move into regional play this week, taking on Crossings Christian at 1:30 Thursday afternoon at Heritage Hall.
