L.P. Melton Jr.

L.P. Melton Jr. was peacefully called home to his Heavenly Father on January 8, 2022. He laid down to take a nap and woke up in the arms of Jesus. L.P. was known to all his friends as “Jr.” He was born July 3, 1929, in Bristow, Okla., to L.P. “Ted” and Ora (Reed) Melton.

Steven Huddleston, 80, was born July 13, 1941 to William and Dorothy Huddleston in Richmond, Ind. He passed away January 4, 2022 in his home in Wellston, Okla. Steve proudly served his country, entering the Navy at 17 years old, serving as a corpsman on the U.S.S. Hunt.

Pastor Ruby Mayan Hughes was born November 20, 1940, in Buckeye, Ariz. She died Saturday, January 8, 2022, at the age of 81 years. Hughes, the daughter of William Horace and Eunice Mae Darnell, married Alford Hughes on April 18, 1973, in Tulare, Calif.

Julia Mae (Penny) Denwalt was born October 5, 1936 in Union City, Mo., to Roy Edward and Gladys Helen (Chastain) Penny. She passed away on Friday, January 7, 2022 at the OU Hospital in Oklahoma City, Okla. Julia attended Bethany Nazarene College. She married George Denwalt Jr.

John Darwin Terry Jr.

John Darwin Terry, Jr., was born August 9, 1949, in Stroud, Okla., to John, Sr. and Bernice Terry. He passed away January 6, 2022, in Denver, Colo., at the age of 72. Johnny owned his own oilfield supply company.

Bench warrant in kidnapping case

A judge has issued a $100,000 bench warrant for the arrest of a defendant charged with kidnapping for extortion and robbery with a weapon after he failed to show up for his preliminary hearing.

Lankford to appear at county GOP event
