Chandler youth wrestlers compete at state

Chandler took 25 wrestlers to the Oklahoma Wrestling Association state tournament last weekend and placed 8 of them.

17 years in the making

The last time the McLoud Redskins were district basketball champions, most of the current players were still in diapers and some weren’t born yet. That was 2004, but the streak ended Monday night when McLoud pulled off an intense 61-58 overtime win over Dickson.

Henry Proctor “Hank” Land, Jr., 79 of Shawnee, Okla., originally of Pensacola, Fla., passed away Wednesday, Feb. 17, in Norman Regional Hospital. He was born the son of Proctor and Dixie Allen Land on April 30, 1941 in Pensacola. He was the fifth born of seven children.

Donald Arthur “Chub” Goodnight was born August 11, 1943 in Chandler to Arthur ‘Art’ William and Beulah Emaline (Campion) Goodnight. He passed away February 20, 2021 in Oklahoma City at the age of 77. He was raised in Davenport, Oklahoma where he graduated from high school in 1961.

The Meeker Town Board during its most recent meeting took action on two agenda items and no action on another. They voted to lock the front door at Town Hall until further notice, Town Administrator Dickie Walton said.

Murder charges in Stroud shooting

A Harrah man, being held in jail for the last two weeks in the alleged fatal shooting of a Stroud resident, now faces a first degree murder charge.
