Chandler High School seniors Jacob Moehle and Claire Norrell have been chosen as Lions of the Month by the Lion’s Club for the month of February. Jacob Moehle, the son of Ryan and Rachel Moehle, holds a 4.0 grade point average.

Officials at the Oklahoma Blood Institute advise that they are facing an emergency blood shortage due to sustained winter weather. The recent weather has severely impacted the blood supply that was already strained by COVID-19 related cancellations and closures.

American Red Cross offers life-saving winter safety tips

As of Jan. 21, 2021, the American Red Cross Kansas-Oklahoma Region had responded to 272 events and served 762 clients due to home fires. With cold winter temperatures continuing this week the American Red Cross wants to remind people how to use space heaters and other heat sources safely.

Bill would help law enforcement responding to mental health calls

This year, I am running House Bill 2877 that would allow law enforcement officers to access telehealth mental health services when responding to calls where a person might need such assistance.

I took the Snowmaggedon predictions last week with several grains of salt. Any time a good winter storm comes through, the tv weather guys start outbidding each other like collectors at an antique auction.

Remembering snowballs

As I was watching the snow fall on Sunday, it took me back to when I was a kid growing up in the 50’s and 60s. My friends and I liked it when it snowed. We knew we’d get out of school for a day or two and we built snowmen, had friendly snowball fights.
