The former Assistant Chandler Police Chief, who was arrested in early September is due back in court in December.
Steven Bradley Simon, 47, faces four felony charges and two misdemeanors.
Associate District Judge Sheila Kirk originally set his bond on Sep. 3 at $100,000.
On Sep. 9, court records indicate, that bond was reduced to $20,000.
She ordered Simon to wear an ankle monitor.
Chandler Police Chief Mattheyer confirmed on Tuesday that Simon is no longer employed with the department.
The felonies filed in Lincoln County District Court against Simon include Domestic Assault and Battery by Strangulation; possession of firearm during commission of a felony; Plan/Attempt/ Conspire to perform an Act of Violence; and unlawful use of a police radio.
The misdemeanors are carrying a firearm while under the influence and discharging a firearm in public place.
According to court records, Simon made his initial appearance on Monday of this week before Lincoln County Associate District Judge Sheila Kirk. She continued the case and scheduled his next court appearance for 1:30 p.m., Dec. 16.
On Sep. 3, the victim, his wife Jade Savannah Simon, filed for an Emergency Protective Order against Simon and that was granted.
On Sep. 17, Judge Kirk ruled the EPO is to remain in full force and effect and that Simon have no contact with the victim. He was ordered to remain wearing the ankle monitor.
A court affidavit signed by Lincoln County Sheriff Sgt. T. Long states he was dispatched at 4:41 a.m. on Sep. 2 to 106 Meadow Lane in Chandler. He was advised by the Lincoln County Communications Center that Jade Simon, wife of Steve Simon, had run to that address. in Long’s patrol car and safely removed from the scene until it was secured. Long said he transported her to meet up with her father.
Long then was advised that Steve Simon was at the neighbors’ residence attempting to make entry. On his arrival he met with Deputy Roe who advised that Officer Berry had made contact with Simon between the two houses.
Long reported that he transported the victim to the sheriff’s office to The affidavit states she told the dispatcher that Steve Simon was attempting to kill her by choking her and then he discharged a firearm out the back door, reportedly threatening to use the firearm on her.
Jade Simon also told dispatch that Simon was possibly armed with an unknown type of weapon in the residence.
The victim was escorted from the neighbors’ residence with the assistance of other officers and placed obtain a written statement and evaluate her injuries.
The affidavit shows that just before 6 a.m. that morning Long and Deputy Brown arrested Steve Simon and transported him to the Lincoln County’s Sheriff Office. Long says in the affidavit Simon was booked in on those charges.
The District Attorney’s Task Force was also notified and began an investigation into the incident, the affidavit concludes.
