The Meeker FFA Chapter has been named a National 3-Star Chapter by the National FFAOrganization, recognizing the chapter’s dedication to leadership development, community involvement and agricultural education.
The National Chapter Award program recognizes FFA chapters that demonstrate excellence in carrying out the FFA mission through strong chapter programming. Chapters are evaluated on their ability to grow leaders, build communities and strengthen agriculture.
Earning a National 3-Star Chapter rating is a significant accomplishment and reflects the hard work and dedication of Meeker FFA members throughout the past year. Through leadership activities, community service, agricultural education, competitive events and chapter activities, members have worked together to make a positive impact both within their school and throughout the Meeker community.
Meeker FFA Ag Instructor Logan Johns said the recognition is a testament to the commitment shown by chapter members.
“Our chapter being named a 3-Star chapter speaks volumes about the dedication our students have to excellence. Year in and year out, our members choose to serve their chapter and community the best they can and being named a 3 Star chapter proves that,” he said.
The accomplishment is particularly meaningful to Johns because of the character he sees demonstrated by his students every day.
“I have said this since the beginning of my career and will continue to do so. I have the opportunity to work with some of the best students in the state and nation. Earning this award proves their actions exemplify character and integrity,” he said.
The chapter’s success would not be possible without the continued support of the Meeker community. Throughout the year, community members have provided time, resources and encouragement to help Meeker FFA members carry out their activities and goals. Johns emphasized the important role the community has played in the chapter’s success.
“Without our community’s support, we would not be able to maintain the level of success that we have had. Several of the activities in our program of activities this year were extremely dependent upon the involvement of our community. Not only did community members step up to the occasion, but they helped us make it even better than we imagined.”
While the 3-Star designation is an achievement worth celebrating, Johns believes the true measure of an FFA program goes far beyond awards and recognition.
“Banners and trophies are always nice, but they aren’t the most important. What makes me most proud is what they go on to do after they leave my program. They go to college, go to a trade school, become parents, and so forth. Most importantly, they contribute to society in a positive way.”
Johns said that helping students become productive, responsible members of society has always been at the heart of his work as an agricultural educator.
“That has been and always will be my goal as an ag teacher, and seeing that goal get accomplished with each set of students that graduates makes me proudest!”
The National 3-Star Chapter recognition represents more than a single award for Meeker FFA. It represents the combined efforts of its members, agricultural educators, families, school and community supporters who have worked together to build a strong FFA program.
As Meeker FFA continues to grow, its members will carry the lessons learned through leadership, service and agricultural education with them into their futures. The National 3-Star Chapter designation serves as recognition not only of what the chapter has accomplished, but of the potential of the students who proudly represent Meeker FFA.
